L'artista britannico Maxwell Doig è nato a Huddersfield. Si è laureato alla Manchester School of Art nel 1988 con un BA in Fine Art e ha proseguito i suoi studi post-laurea in Fine Art presso la Slade School of Art di Londra, tra il 1988 e il 1990. I suoi dipinti raffigurano figure solitarie statiche.Nel 1997 è stato insignito del Villiers David Prize. Vive e lavora a Manchester.
