L'artista americano, pittore realista di nature morte, ne1968 ha frequentato la East Carolina University per un anno e nel 1979, è tornato alla East Carolina University laureandosi in belle arti nel 1980. Presso la Parson's School of Design ha conseguito un Bachelor of Fine Arts nel 1982. Ha in seguito conseguito un Master of Fine Arts.
